More zbrush sketching, trying to keep them to an hour or less, this is under 1 hour. Claybuild-up, flatten, dynamesh, claytubes brushes are used for this 1.

Digital-Tutors: Mixed Modeling Techniques in 3ds Max 2012 with Todd Daniele

Planes of the Head-Zbrush sculpt test
Tonight I had some free time, so I watched some amazing traditional sculpting videos on youtube. The techniques I could most relate to were being shown by Philippe Faraut...truly amazing. So in the interest of applying traditional techniques to a CG sculpt, I sketched this out following 1 of Phillipe's videos and did a little experiment with planar analysis based on a casting he sells on his website.

Gobber-quick speedsculpt
Watched "How to Train your Dragon" tonight......here is a very quick speedsculpt of Gobber. 1 hour 20 minutes, not sure if I am going to refine him more or move on.

Character Speed sculpt
This was fun, based this on a sketch by a colleague of mine, Eugen Sasu. Started with zspheres, then right to sculpting. His hands, feet and clothes still need quite a bit more work, but I really like the style of this guy!

New Speed Sculpt.....it's been too long!
I had a little free time tonight, so after seeing a few videos of people using zsphere2 to build base meshes I gave it a go. For the uninitiated, TRY IT! Unbelievably fast to work with. Start with a regular z-sphere armature, then use the z-sphere 2 brushes to build some mass on the base. Once converted you will have a great starting point in minutes. He is built in several sections right now, but eventually will be 1 mesh. Clothing base meshes created in 3ds max with Wrapit(awesome set of tools!) I GoZ'd the torso and legs to 3ds then created the new meshes right over the imported parts.
My caricatures are always inspired by real world characters, this guy is no different. Based on some people I know and the idea of what the Jersey Shore guys might look like in 20 years. :) I am hoping I can develop this much more.
